Reverend Steven Vashon Dickerson, Sr.

Senior Pastor

The youngest of 5 children born to the late Julia Stevens and Evans Levi Dickerson, Reverend Steven Vashon Dickerson, Sr. was reared and educated in Columbia, South Carolina. After graduating from Columbia High School, he went on to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He is a 2020 honor graduate of Charlotte Christian College and Theological Seminary with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies with a concentration in Theology. Currently, he is a third-year graduate student at Campbell University Divinity School in Buies Creek, North Carolina, where he is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree.

Reverend Dickerson has been employed at UNC Health Care in the Anatomical and Surgical Pathology Department for the past 19 years. He is the Senior Pastor of Lee’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Grove, North Carolina.

Of all the things that Reverend Dickerson has accomplished in his lifetime the most important is his relationship with God. Having been reared by Godly parents, he grew up in the fear and admonition of God. He was baptized at a young age at Second Nazareth Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina under the Pastorate of the late Reverend Dr. William McKinley Bowman, Sr.   At Second Nazareth he was member of the music ministry, served as a Junior Deacon and at the age of 18 was elected to serve as a Trustee, making him the youngest person to serve in that capacity.

After relocating to North Carolina Reverend Dickerson joined Union Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in Durham under the Pastorate of Reverend Dr. Kenneth Ray Hammond. At Union, he was a member of the music ministry and served on the Diaconate Ministry. In July 2014, he preached his initial sermon entitled “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” and received his license to preach the gospel in September of that same year. He was ordained in October 2016 and served as an Associate in Ministry.

Reverend Dickerson is married to the former Jeronica Lichelle Miller, and they are the proud parents of two children: Alayah Emmalee and Steven Vashon Dickerson, Jr.

Reverend Dickerson is a man who has a heart for God and his people. His desire is to win souls for Christ and grow disciples. His favorite passage of scripture is Psalm 37:4 which reads “Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
